QL2 Dance in partnership with Youth Dance Australia presents Gather – Meet Up Performance.
Six innovative new dance works by Youth Dance Companies from around Australia: QL2 Dance – Quantum Leap Ensemble (Canberra), Yellow Wheel (Melbourne), Stompin (Launceston), Catapult – The Flipside Project (Newcastle), AUSTI Dance and Physical Theatre (Wollongong) and FLING Physical Theatre (Bega).
Meet Up is a biennial gathering of Australian youth dance companies, organised by QL2 Dance and held in Canberra in the off-year of the Australian Youth Dance Festival (Melbourne). Meet Up is an opportunity for youth dance company leaders and young dancers to maintain national connections, discuss important issues and opportunities, share knowledge and skills, and perform their work on one of Canberra’s main stages, Canberra Theatre Centre Playhouse.
After being postponed due to covid, Meet Up returns in July 2023. Six youth dance companies from across Australia will connect with ACT’s QL2 Dance young dancers and local independent dance artists to share and create. The 4-day event will culminate in a forum on creative collaborative processes with the companies followed by a performance of the companies’ innovative works offering Canberra audiences a taste of the next generation of Australian creators.
