If you’ve ever been and watched artists blowing and manipulating molten glass in the hotshop at the Canberra Glassworks, you’ll know that these LEGO renditions of the workspace are spot on.
Though they have appeared on the Glassworks’ Facebook page with the line “Glassblowing immortalized in LEGO”, the RiotACT understands they were not commissioned as a marketing ploy, but instead represent the work of a young fan of the Kingston Arts Precinct institution.
That hasn’t stopped them becoming one of the most shared and liked items ever to have appeared on the Glassworks’ social media feeds.
One commenter, Catherine Carter, asked, ‘What about LEGO immortalised in glass?’, to which the Glassworks responded:
Catherine, check out the artwork (designed by Benjamin Kendell, 4, of Calwell, in our Kids Glass Design Comp in 2015) which was cast in glass by local artist Spike Deane.

Drawing inspiration from spring and to celebrate Floriade, Fresh Glass pairs studio glass vessels and sculpture with fresh botanical installations. Artists have been invited to collaborate across the mediums to elaborate on one of the most functional forms of glass.
