Light up the city with your glowing bikes – Canberra’s very first Glow Ride is coming soon! Photos: Pedal Power ACT.

Spring is such as lovely time to ride a bike in Canberra. The blossom is out, the sun has some of its warmth back, and people are coming out of hibernation to enjoy walking and cycling in our beautiful bush capital.

To celebrate spring, and the end of the long winter dark, Pedal Power will launch the newest addition to the Canberra cycling calendar – Canberra’s first ever Glow Ride event which will be held on Saturday 6 October, the last day before the start of daylight savings.

Glow Ride is a totally new community event that’s never been seen in Canberra – a glow in the dark night-time bike ride! Glow rides have really taken off in other cities around the world, as they offer something different and is fun, festive and adventurous.

Glow Ride will be great for families, kids, and fun-loving people of all ages. We’ll start at twilight and ride into the dark and under the stars, lighting up the night with glow-in-the-dark bikes! We are asking people to wear their best glow-in-the-dark gear and dress up their bikes with glowing colours and festive lights, with spot prizes for the brightest bikes.

The ride will be starting from our event hub at Yerrabi Pond Park in Gungahlin with an easy 5 km loop ride on the shared path around the lake, followed by a family-friendly glow party at our event hub, with food and entertainment.

Glow Ride is proudly supported by Gungahlin lawyers, Snedden Hall and Gallop.

“As long-term supporters of Pedal Power and the Big Canberra Bike Ride, we are excited to be involved with this new event,” said Snedden Hall and Gallop Managing Director Richard Faulks.

“With our new office in Gungahlin, we are looking forward to the opportunity to support a new a community event in our local area. I know our team is excited to be hosting the “Bike Bling Station” at the event hub, where people can put the finishing touches on their bikes to make them stand out from the crowd,” said Richard.
