Several controlled burns planned for this weekend have been postponed by the ACT Territory and Municipal Services Directorate (TAMS).

However, the ACT Rural Fire Service is conducting a hazard reduction burn tomorrow, Saturday December 14, 2013, at Amber Ridge in Gordon.

Weather permitting, 20 personnel will be on site from 10am with two heavy tankers, three medium tankers and two command vehicles.

The size of the burn will be 6.2 hectares.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is K16.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burn in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.
The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
