The daily weekday coach service connecting Goulburn to the Canberra CBD has been extended for another year.

Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman has welcomed the return of the service, which has been revised and will now take customers from Goulburn to Canberra Civic and home during morning and evening peak times.

“We’ve received great feedback from locals who use the service to travel to work in Canberra, or travel to the hospital, university or airport,” Mrs Tuckerman said.

“We know many people curbed their travel last year due to COVID-19, and extending this trial will give us a better gauge of demand outside the peak of a pandemic.

“We hope even more people will give it a try over the next 12 months and show there’s enough demand to make it permanent.”

Customers can travel from Goulburn at 6:30 am and return from Canberra Civic at 5:30 pm, arriving back in Goulburn at 7:00 pm.

The service also stops at Canberra Airport, Bruce Calvary Hospital, Canberra University and Belconnen Westfield to pick up booked customers.

Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole said the service was part of the NSW Government’s vision to help make public transport a first-choice option for people living in the regions.

“We’ve been working closely with the community to ensure this service meets their needs,” he said.

“It’s the community’s feedback that encouraged us to tweak it to suit locals who wanted to use it for their daily commute to Canberra, and extending the trial will allow us to see how well it meets that demand.”

A three-day a week service was suspended in September after an average of only six people per trip used the trial service that operated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Concerns were raised at the time that the service may not be reinstated, but Mrs Tuckerman said she was delighted it was back.

Customers can book the trial coach services online at www.transportnsw.info/regional or by phoning NSW TrainLink on 13 22 32.
