In Sunday’s Canberra Times, there is a supplement booklet “Your Guide To Regional NSW” which is being promoted by Destination NSW.
It is meant to be NSW – centric of course but the map of the regions in NSW does not show Canberra or the ACT.
There is no mention of the Cool Climate Wine region at Murrumbateman and Lake George either but Orange, Hilltops and Tumbarumba get a good rap as cool-climate wine areas.
Also stated as cool-climate wine areas are “cellar doors around Moree and Narrabri”. Cool-climate? You have got to be joking.
It’s bad enough that a Canberra paper promotes the state that encapsulates us (as if we don’t exist) but to claim the Narrabri and Moree are cool-climate wine areas is nonsense.

Your points are well taken but the Murrumbateman, Wallaroo and Lake George vineyards are in NSW.
I’ll bet Ken Helm is real excited his award winning wines have been ignored by Destination NSW.
Ken pays his taxes in NSW, BTW.
Oh noes! A NSW Statutory Authority charged with promoting NSW tourism doesn’t want to spend any money on promoting ACT tourism–oh the humanity.
By the way, you are assuming that the cellar door is somewhere near the vineyard. The cellar door out near Moree is selling wine produced in the Northern Tablelands.
