A busy Gungahlin road will be closed for six weeks as the ACT Government sets out to create a safer, vibrant, better-connected Gungahlin town centre.

Hinder Street between Anthony Rolfe Avenue and Efkarpidis Street will be closed from this Monday (3 September) till 18 October as work continues on the extension of Ernest Cavanagh Street.

The extension of Ernest Cavanagh Street will provide one lane of traffic in each direction, footpaths on both sides of the road, pedestrian crossings and on street parking bays. The road closure on Hinder Street will allow for kerb, pavement and utility works to be undertaken.

There will be no access for road users and pedestrians will also be impacted.

During the closure, road users will be detoured via Gozzard Street and Manning Clark Crescent and there will be temporary access in place for pedestrians on the eastern side of Hinder Street for a short time until the footpath on the western side has been completed.

For more information on the extension of Ernest Cavanagh Street and other projects in the area, visit Transport Canberra and City Services or contact Access Canberra on 13 22 81.
