ACT Policing responded to two suspicious packages in Hume today (Monday, May 20).

ACT Policing received the report of the suspicious packages, believed to be ‘pipe-bombs’, in Alderson Place, Hume, about 10.15am.

ACT Policing General Duties members attended and cordoned the area, requesting the assistance of the Specialist Response Group (SRG) Bomb Response Team.
Businesses within the cordoned off area were asked to remain inside their building as a precautionary measure.

An exclusion zone of 100 meters was set up, while the SRG Bomb Response Team removed the packages.

The packages were conveyed to a controlled location where they were rendered safe. The packages will be the subject of examination and analysis by AFP Forensics.

ACT Policing would like to thank businesses in the area for their co-operation and understanding.

Investigations are ongoing.
