Information Request – Mugga Tip

Devil_n_Disquiz 23 November 2008 18

Hey All,

I’m finding myself in the position of having a need to visit the local tip this weekend. But I can’t find any info online about how much it costs to dump there etc…

I just need to take my slat bed and mattress that I am replacing, and my old sofa bed that the cats have reduced to a wooden frame. They gotta go to the tip.

Can someone please point me in the right direction for a website perhaps that details price lists for dumping at the tip ??

I had a quick ‘boy’ look and couldn’t find anything useful

Interesting accusation and inconveniently ironic, but no. Not sorted like that. Sofa went to tip, bed went to friends of a friend. But thanks for asking.

I love to burn old monitors on my acreage. So many colours are produced!

why don’t you take the old furniture to revolve (or is it the awfully named ‘aussie junk’ now?) rather than tip – you mightn’t want it but someone might make something of it rather than have it rot in landfill…

They are very fussy and only want stuff in pretty good nick (though you’d never know from the amount of rubbish they try and sell). I doubt they would be interested in a second-hand mattress.

Charges also apply for the following specific items:
Mattresses – $5 per mattress
Tyres (max 5) – $3 per tyre
Computer box – $15 each
Computer monitor – $22.50 each

It should work out at between 5 – 10 $ for the mattress depending on if the price has gone up. The bed frame will be free if it is made of metal and so will the sofa bed as it is made of wood and is also free. When i ran the weighbridge this is what it would have been.

If the bed and mattress are still useable, advertise them on Freecycle. Someone will no doubt be able to use it and come to pick up from you.

Save it up for guy fawkes night? whatever happened to bonfire night anyway, although I think that was probably queen’s birthday weekend, when we’d have excellent bonfires and crackers.

do what some wankers do and dump it along narrabundah lane. daily on the way to work i see a load dumped that obviously was too expensive to take to the tip.

Pretty much $16 for a trailer load of household rubbish. However, Matresses, Computer screens etc.. attract an additional charge of around $20-$25.

The charge is more or less volumetric, so make sure you bust down large hollow things (like hollow sofa frames) before you get there.

it costs a lot. like that would probably be a 12 dollar minimum charge? I think thas what cost me to get rid of some broken drawers a year ago. i could be recalling incorrectly though so do not take it as gods word or anything.
