It's all the players fault, and the coach we sacked! Sayeth Fagan

The ABC has lengthy comments from long serving CEO Andrew Fagan on why the side is such a disappointment to all concerned.

But Fagan stood by his decision to axe Friend and told ABC Radio 666 in Canberra on Monday that the issues at the club ran deeper than just the former coach.

“I’m not going to to into the details but what I’ll tell you is that when you’ve got an untenable environment, you’ve got an untenable environment,” he said.

“I’ve got 30 players that I can’t do anything about – Andy selected all those players.

“When you’ve got an environment that’s not working you’ve got to make a change and what I said at the time was that the change wasn’t going to guarantee success.

“But I knew what would happen if we didn’t make a change … the club would implode from inside.”

Mr Fagan would also have us believe that coach Rea’s Saturday night spray was directed at players and not management.

UPDATE: For those blocked from GAGR here’s a link to our copy of the spray.

“… I’ve got 30 players that I can’t do anything about – Andy selected all those players…”

So are mgt now saying (out of the blue) that it is actually the fault of 30 specific players? If they can’t do anything about ‘them’ if Andy is there or not, then why did they sack Andy (and why did mgt let Andy select these 30 supposedly poor players)?
Gee, it must be an awesome environment at the Brumbies right now. You can almost feel the love between players, mgt and the coach….

I have just finished reading Rod McQueen’s book describing his business approach to team sports, particularly rugby. I would suggest it be compulsory reading for all administration/management staff at the Brumbies. I think the club has forgotten where they came from.

” … implode from inside.”

As opposed to?

You’ve got to be kidding, is this the mcintyre raiders or the brumbies, its the old “It’s everyone elses fault but mine” excuse. So who is left to blame??? Must be us fans/members next on the spoiled brats group for axing.

Perhaps Mr. Fagan should be looking much deeper into the club if he wants to continue the sacking……………..much deeper and closer to home Mr. Fagan……………………….really close!!!!!!

Oh, to hell with it – if it has a fluffy bum, walks like a duck and goes ‘quack’, it is what it is. So, Mr. Fagan, resign……………………….couldn’t be clearer now!
