With seven weeks until Christmas, I have started the hunt for all things festive – everything from the presents, to food ideas and beautiful homewares for the season, and this year I am going to keep it local, starting with setting the mood for the season with the two Song of Oya limited edition holiday candles.

First, there’s the decadent “Gingerbread”, which combines caramel and hazelnut with ginger, nutmeg, clove and cinnamon to create a fresh out of the oven holiday scent and the very merry “Frankincense & Myrrh”, a beautiful fresh scent combining frankincense and myrrh with balsam, spice, patchouli and sandalwood.

Song of Oya is proudly Canberran, with a feel-good story. Hand poured with love, magic and healing energy, Song of Oya candles are all about bringing good vibes into your home and everyday life. The candles are based on aromatherapy and made with premium soy wax and quality fragrance and essential oils. Each candle comes with its own affirmation card that is inspired by the candle’s scent and name.

Born and bred Canberran, Bec Cuzzillo is behind the local brand and says she “absolutely love(s) my hometown. I’m a vegetarian, a blogger, a holistic healer and a candle artisan. I believe in the power of healing magic and manifestation. I’m an easily excited person and passionate about a lot of things – coffee, food and travel are some of the more frivolous, but I am also incredibly passionate about social justice issues, human rights and the environment.”

Bec admits “It might be surprising that I haven’t always loved candles. I liked them, sure, but didn’t love them nearly as much as I do now. Burning candles always seemed like such a luxurious thing to do. So I think my love of candles emerged when I started making a conscious effort to create small moments of peace and luxury in the everyday. Candles are now my favourite way to lift the mood of my space and home.”

“From there, I started keeping an eye out for a candle making workshop to learn how to make my own. I told Matt, my partner, what I wanted to do and he suggested that I buy a starter kit and simply teach myself. So that’s what I did – I started making candles for myself and for family and friends, and before long I had launched the Song of Oya candle range.”

Although they aren’t just holiday candles! Song of Oya produces a range of offerings with the inspiration for each candle coming from Bec’s training, she explains, “I am also a fully qualified Angelic Reiki Master Teacher, so all of our candles are ultimately inspired by my healing practice.”

“Our flagship candle range is the Good Vibes range. With scents based on aromatherapy principles, our Good Vibes candles are carefully crafted to bring positive energy into your everyday life.”

Our Limited Edition candles are designed to evoke the energy of each new season, because who doesn’t love flowers in springtime and tropical fruits in the summer?”
