The Liberal’s Jeremy Hanson is stealing a march on Katy Gallagher by pointing out why today’s opening of the adult mental health centre is not quite the triumph of Governance we will, at some point, be told it is:

ACT Labor will today finally open its continually re-announced adult mental health centre, despite claiming months ago that it was ‘near completion’ and originally promising its delivery a year and a half ago, according to ACT Shadow Health Minister Jeremy Hanson.

“In her election year flurry of ribbon-cutting, Katy Gallagher is today touting a project which she has in fact delivered 16 months late,” Mr Hanson said today.

“We’re still waiting for the Women and Children’s Hospital which was promised at the last election and is already more than $21 million over budget.

“When it comes to delivering infrastructure on time and on budget, particularly in the area of health, the ACT Labor Government simply can’t get it done.
