Libs get coy about Statute of Limitations and the fires

By johnboy - 9 September 2005 1

The Local Libs in the form of Wild Bill Stefaniak have put out a media release on their plans to increase the statute of limitations to allow fire victoms to sue the gubbmint for any failings that might arise from ongoing inquiries.

Shadow Attorney General, Bill Stefaniak, said today the Opposition would introduce a Bill in the September sitting of the Legislative Assembly to extend the Statute of Limitations to protect the rights of bushfire victims.

Be fascinating to see how this one is played.

I would suggest a resounding ‘No’ from the Conrade and his followers.

This opinion is baseed upon two simple premises, one, that Stanhope hates the opposition doing anything and so simply opposes it, and secondly, because w ehave already seen that he wants nothing to do with the bushfires and if the time limit were made longer it would allow the coroner’s report to be completed which in theory should help the fire victims.

I can feel an angry voice coming on here.
