Markets, where do they come from where do they go?

I love Gorman House Markets, it’s got a wonderful intellectual atmosphere. This Sat (2 March 2013) will be the first day my not-for-profit business (Global Handmade) sells at the markets, and I sell fairly traded, exotic, culturally inspired and handmade products from developing countries. Full profits are used to help people in need. I believe Gorman House is the perfect place for my business. Not everyone appreciates handmade things, but for those who do, we simply love them!

Then again, I don’t have kids, perhaps some of the baby clothes made out of fluffy scraps by grandmothers with no skills other than collecting bits of fabric becomes desirable to pregnancy-hormone-addled brains.

Hmmmm…I don’t have children and I don’t have a ‘pregnancy-hormone-addled brain(!)’ but somehow I managed to find some lovely, reasonably priced jewellery, a handmade funky brooch, a scented candle made of soy, a stack of handmade cards and a gorgeous fascinator for the races. Each to their own.

Ginninderra Village Market is held on 4th Sunday each month 10am- 3pm except DEC which it is having a Special Christmas Sunday DEC 19th. Set in the old school house gardens @ Gold creek next to George hardcourt inn , it’s a smaller market (20-30 stalls) but growing it has just been revamped and has new contact person. Trash n treasure in Jamison is worth a wonder occasionally. Sunday mornings from 6 am (?) Till 12/1 pm.

Bungendore Markets are on the 3rd Sunday of every month. A good little local market, no made in China tat.

Well, if you like that sort of thing…

I went there once, most of the stuff was crap. The only thing I liked was some of this one lady’s jewellery, but not the cheap stuff – the custom-made $1000+ platinum stuff which would take several months of designing.
