Marques in the Park 2009.

This Sunday, 22 November, from 10 am to 3 pm. It’s the ACT’s Spring Show’n’Shine for all autos, from vintage, veterans, classic and modified, in fact, almost anything motorised with wheels.

It’s organised by the Canberra Region Morris Minor Club for the ACT Council of Motor Clubs, as a no sweat chance for enthusiasts to show off their prides and joys.

No prizes, just a family day out down by the lake. This year, because we were starting to feel the squeeze, we moved to Patrick White Lawns by the big lake from John Knight. It just means no cruise to the venue, unless you’re in a club, and organise to meet and cruise in in a group.

Sponsored by Shannons, as always backing auto enthusiasts everywhere. Share the Passion!

Now, nobody probably cares, but the Patrick White Lawns – as with the National Library of Australia, and indeed the entire Parliamentary Zone – are actually not in Barton, despite the advertising for the Marques in the Park saying otherwise.

The suburb you are after there is Parkes. I thought the name Marques in the Park would have been a clue to this – Park, Parkes, and so it goes on.

Have a great day in Parkes tomorrow everybody – I might even try to get down there with my trusty new Skoda!!

Thanks niftydog & RandomPoster.

@Lilli – just go to the National Library and keep an eye out for the shiny cars. I’m guessing this will be the same location used for the German Autofest a few weeks ago.

Much nicer poster this year, too!

“in fact, almost anything motorised with wheels.”

Which types of vehiles are excluded?

Hey David, thanks for the info. Sounds like a good day.

I’m a bit vague on the directions and unfamiliar with the area – could you possibly link a map? Thanks!
