Michael James McGoogan has been convicted and fined by the ACT Magistrates Court.
Last week, he was found guilty of a charge of common assault in a Magistrates Court hearing after pleading not guilty. The charge relates to an incident on 13 April 2024, but much of the evidence has been legally suppressed.
On Monday (9 December), he was convicted and fined $500.
Magistrate Robert Cook said the assault fell at the low end on the scale of seriousness.
He said McGoogan had no prior criminal history and had shown remorse.
“That remorse appears deep and genuine,” the magistrate said.
The 37-year-old was also acquitted of two other charges last week.
