Mobile billboards on Hindmarsh

I was on my way to Fyshwick and heading down HindmarshDrive when all of a sudden the traffic became heavy. Was there a crash? No, Was there a speed bus? No Was there an RBT operation? No There were 2 motor scooters in the left lane, both were towing mobile billboards for McCafe – One was a coffee mug and the other was a regular billboard.

Good on the scooter riders for getting up Hindmarsh, I have thought about getting a scooter or a motorbike to get around. The thing that got me was despite the fact that there was a whole freakin right hand lane to over take traffic was still banked up behind them. Mobile billboards aren’t new get over them.

Canberra’s have some bizzare inability to change langed coupled with an instinctive need to form queues despite free lanes.

Saw these two in Tuggeranong last weekend. The coffee cup trailer actually has steam coming out the top like a nice hot one. Some pretty clever marketing you have to admit. They are also giving away free vouchers if anyone is interested in following them until they stop!

If you don’t overtake them, you won’t see the side of the billboard, and won’t be “advertised to”. So maybe the people banked up behind we simply expressing a political disapproval of the insidious advertising practices of multinational junk food corporations?

Oh! I saw those (when stopped at the lights). The coffee cup’s a new one for me. And as I don’t do a lot of driving, seeing road billboards are pretty spesh, but nothing to slow down for. Very cool incorporation of the coffee cup though. Def. started some massive coffee cravings for me.
