More on the Red Hill kerfuffle

ACT Policing are continuing investigations into the disturbance in Red Hill on Saturday morning (October 19).

Around 9.21am police responded to the report of a disturbance at units in Discovery Street.

The initial report alleged a man involved in the disturbance was armed with a knife and possibly a firearm.

Woden Station Sergeant Steven Hogarth said that the level of response was appropriate given the initial complaint made to police.

“After interviewing several people in relation to the incident police ascertained that a firearm had not been sighted,” Sergeant Hogarth said.

“Around an hour into the police response the complainant recanted the information initially provided to police”

Officers from Woden and Tuggeranong Patrols attended the incident along with officers from the Specialist Response Group. Surrounding streets were cordoned off during the response.

Police are continuing their investigations into the incident.
