UPDATED 4 pm: A woman has suffered serious leg injuries in the five-vehicle crash that closed the Barton Highway north of Hall this morning (13 April).

Police have been told a truck was travelling south on the Barton Highway when it struck the rear of a stationary vehicle waiting at roadworks.

The impact pushed the vehicle into three more vehicles.

She is in a stable condition.

The Barton Highway is still closed in both directions.

UPDATED 12:40 pm: The Barton Highway will be closed for several hours, as emergency services remain on scene at a serious collision involving five vehicles.

An ACT Policing spokesperson said traffic is being diverted along surrounding dirt roads, which are not designed for heavy vehicles.

“These trucks need to find alternative routes, preferably avoiding Canberra,” she said.

“We’re also asking trucking companies, if your vehicles have not left yet, don’t depart.”

It’s unclear how many people have been involved in the crash at this stage, however police confirmed some have suffered serious injuries.

11:30am: The Barton Highway is closed in both directions about three kilometres north of Hall after a serious crash involving five vehicles, including a truck.

Fuel has also spilled across the road.

The crash occurred just before 10:30 am this morning (13 April), close to roadworks near Spring Ridge Road, Wallaroo, in NSW.
