Here at Riot we just received the following media release:
The Australian Electoral Commission’s National Tally Room in the Budawang Building, Exhibition Park (EPIC), will be open to the public from 5pm on Saturday 24 November.
Media Director Phil Diak said tickets were not required for public entry to the National Tally Room, however there would be security checks including x-ray scanning at the entrance.
“While members of the public are welcome to visit the National Tally Room, they should be aware that there may be a queue and a wait to enter the building.
The National Tally Room is a venue for the media to broadcast election results live on television and radio. ”
The Australian Electoral Commission will have detailed results online in the Virtual Tally Room (VTR), at www.aec.gov.au where everyone can view the latest election results. The VTR will update every 90 seconds on election night and display results across approximately 1200 individual pages on-screen.
For more information about the National Tally Room, the Virtual Tally Room and the 2007 federal election visit www.aec.gov.au or call the AEC on 13 23 26.
