ARC Organics

ARC Organics, Canberra’s most recommended organic food delivery service.

It’s no secret that seasonal, organic and locally-grown produce are becoming more popular – not just in Canberra but around the world.

If you’re interested in eating more organic fruit, vegetables and other fresh produce, you’ve come to the right place. We understand just how tricky it can be to find affordable, high-quality, fresh organic produce – so we asked locals to share their favourite sources.

In this article, we share the where to find the best organic produce in Canberra and the surrounding region – whether that’s in-store or via a delivery service. Let’s get to it.

What should you look for in an organic produce supplier?

If you’re on the hunt for fresh, delicious, in-season produce, we suggest keeping an eye out for the following must-have traits:

  • High-quality produce. You want fruit and vegetables that are of higher quality than what you might find in the local supermarket. The best organic suppliers offer super fresh, super tasty produce.
  • A range of products. If you opt for a weekly delivery box, or participate in a community supported agriculture (CSA) scheme, it’s great to have options that suit your needs. After all, a couple needs far less produce than a family of five. The best organic produce delivery services offer a range of fruit and veggies boxes to suit a variety of households. Many also offer customisable boxes, so you can select the exact produce you want.
  • Convenience. Are you happy to go in-store to choose your fruit and vegetables for the week? Or would you prefer to save time with an organic produce delivery box delivered to your door? Perhaps your supplier offers after-hours pick up at a location close to home or work.
  • Well priced. Organic produce can be more expensive than conventionally grown supermarket produce, but it’s still worth doing your research to compare prices.

I’ve been ordering my vegetables and fruit through Darren and Elaina at Canberra Organics ( for about a year now and I think they’re wonderful. I normally order a seasonal fruit and vegetable pack, but you can also pick and choose from a wide range of organic vegetables, fruit and general grocery items.

I’ve also ordered a lot of meat (beef and lamb) through Lost River Produce (, although they haven’t been certified organic, they don’t add any hormones or antibiotics to their produce.

Join COGS and get your hands dirty growing your own damned organic veggies. I just rented a 30sq.m plot at Oaks Estate for $60 a year and everything’s growing very nicely.

Just about all the tools you’d need including a nice supply of tomato stakes, and various hoes, shovels, pitchforks etc are all there for anyone to use. Just dig, water, mulch, mulch, pick weeds, mulch, wait, and Bob’s your uncle.

I hope it’s delivered on a push bike, wouldn’t be right burning fossil fuels to get it to your door… would it?
