double digits? it’s the economy, stoopid. well, inflation. patently, if the economy dives and the inflation figures hit double digits again it means the treasurer’s arse will fly from the house on the hill to clear over mt ainslie in the fit of pique 24/7 kevin will enter in a green rage, with motor malcolm stalking him in the polls… sheesh, how obvious. it goes on, ‘…and then… kevin will give the job to someone who knows what to do: belinda neal. iguanagate will be forgiven and she’ll have to have john della’hubby in her team to make sure she gets it sooo right, just like they did in new south wa…’ (it all goes a bit fuzzy now…)

fhakk Campbell Park sounds like a possible explanation, thanks. The ‘double digits’ shall remain a mystery. And the remnant sclerophyll forest can feel safe for now.
Anyone who remembers the Town Planners’ drawings of Mt Ainslie covered in O’Malley-esque dwellings a few years back, and the Land people rubbing their hands with glee until the Territories minister intervened, would be shuddering with me, not laughing at me! But feel free! 🙂

I was speaking to someone from the Watson Residents Association – they’re fighting developers who are keen to see houses built on the foothills of Mount Majura, East of Antill Street in Watson.

That might be it…unless they’re talking about developing the eastern flank of Mount Ainslie and getting rid of Campbell Park.

Maybe they’re finally going to build that road at the back of Mt Ainslie that will link Gungahlin to the Eastern side of the city?

Haha, won’t the nimbies go off if that ever goes ahead.

I meet the Queanbeyan river guardian 30 years ago when I was flown into Canberra for a job interview as a psychologist with the public service. She, a river nymph, covered me in a feeling of reassurance and told me that I had the job. She came along to the interview and filled the room with a radiant light, perhaps she influenced the committee members? I got the job, which included a relocation allowance, and I have stayed around Canberra ever since.

For years, I have been speculating that if Australia continues to get into more and more ‘mini-wars’, as per the Howard years, we’ll need to extend Anzac Avenue either into Lake Burley Griffin, or demolish the War Memorial, and Mount Ainslie, to fit all the extra memorials we’d need.
It sounds like preparations are under way for this evntuality.

And I for one, welcome our new alien overlords.
