ACT Policing apprehended a 28-year-old Queanbeyan man for drink driving after his vehicle mounted a gutter on London Circuit, City last night (August 20).
About 11.25pm, police travelling in an unmarked vehicle on London Circuit were overtaken by a Ford Falcon travelling at excessive speed.
The vehicle lost control prior to skidding towards the curb, mounting the gutter and sliding a considerable distance before coming to a stop. There was extensive damage to the front end of the vehicle.
Members from City patrol were quickly on the scene and the driver of the Ford Falcon underwent a roadside breath screening test, which returned a positive result.
The driver was conveyed to the City Police Station where he underwent breath analysis, which returned a result of 0.206.
The man was the holder of a Provisional Driver License and therefore subject to a blood alcohol concentration of zero. He was issued with an Immediate Suspension Notice, suspending his right to drive for 90 days.
He was also identified as a repeat drink driving offender who had only just resumed driving on a probationary licence.
The 28-year-old Queanbeyan man will be summonsed to attend the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
