A person has died and six others injured in a multi-vehicle accident on the Monaro Highway near Mugga Lane in Hume.
ACT Policing Officer in Charge of Traffic Operations David Wills said that about 9:30 am on Saturday (28 July) police, ambulance and Fire and Rescue attended the crash, which involved three vehicles and a truck.
He said six people were taken to hospital by ambulance but their injuries were not believed to be serious.
ACT Policing’s Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team (CIRT) is examining the circumstances surrounding the accident and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
OIC Wills said police had spoken to a number of witnesses but were seeking any other witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage of the accident.
They can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
This is the seventh death on the ACT’s roads this year and OIC Wills urged drivers to take care.
“The message to all drivers in the ACT is please drive to the conditions, be aware of vulnerable road users and please be mindful of speed limits and any changes to the road surface and the level of traffic that you’re experiencing,” he said.
