Police investigating suspicious fire at Canberra Islamic Centre

Police are calling for witnesses to come forward after a suspicious fire at the Canberra Islamic Centre on Saturday night (7 September).

Around 11:35 pm, ACT Fire and Rescue responded to an alarm at the Canberra Islamic Centre on Clive Steele Avenue, Monash.

On arrival, firefighters located smoke coming from the prayer hall at the centre and were quickly able to extinguish a small fire within an adjacent storeroom.

ACT Policing attended and the fire is being treated as suspicious.

Police are urging anyone with information about this incident, or anyone who has dash-cam footage or CCTV that captured vehicles and people in the area around the time of the incident, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
