Police investigating truck explosion in Lyneham

Police have launched an investigation after a truck went up in flames at Canberra Lyneham Motor Inn in the early hours of this morning (1 May).

Around 1 am, ACT Fire and Rescue and ACT Policing responded to reports of a truck fire on Mouat Street, Lyneham.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire, which was contained to the tray of the vehicle.

A Canberra Lyneham Motor Inn staff member said staff noticed the fire and called emergency services. He said the owner of the truck had been staying at the accommodation at the time.

The vehicle had also been broken into, with the passenger side glass window shattered and belongings rummaged through.
