Police release footage of suspicious two-vehicle fire in Rivett

ACT Policing have released CCTV footage today (Thursday, 6 January) from a two-vehicle fire in the Canberra suburb of Rivett on 22 December, 2021.

Police are seeking assistance in establishing the identity of the two people involved in the suspicious fire, who appear in the footage below.

At approximately 12:40 am on Wednesday, 22 December, 2021, the incident on Angophora Street in Rivett was attended by ACT Fire and Rescue and ACT Policing.

Two vehicles were engulfed by fire and were extinguished by emergency services workers upon arrival.

The footage shows the vehicles parked in the front yard of the Rivett home, with two people approaching the vehicles, pouring a liquid on them and then setting fire to the vehicles and surrounding grass before running off.

Both people in the video are wearing dark clothing, hats and face masks. One is wearing a distinctive Balenciaga branded hoodie, with the brand name in white lettering across the back.

Anyone who can identify either of the people in the CCTV footage, or anyone who witnessed the incident who has not yet spoken to police, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website, quoting reference number 6993737.
