A small number of primary school aged children have been approached by a man in a white sedan before and after school in the suburbs of Melba, Flynn and Fraser.

ACT Policing is investigating recent incidents in the Belconnen area after receiving multiple reports of a man approaching students. ACT Policing are seeking to identify the man who is described as 30-40 years old, with short dark hair and tattoos on his arms and chest.

As a result of these reports, there is an increased police presence in and around the Belconnen suburbs.

The man’s vehicle has been described as a small white four-door sedan which possibly has black louvers on the rear window.

ACT Policing is working closely with the Education Directorate, who have issued a reminder to school communities in the Canberra area to help children understand the importance of stranger safety and the importance of reporting any unusual approaches immediately.

Police are urging anyone who may have any information that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
