Police Wrap – 18 December

By johnboy - 18 December 2008 12

1. More trouble over the guns than the drugs:

ACT Policing has charged a 34-year-old man with drug and weapons offences following the execution of a search warrant in McKellar yesterday (17 December 2008).

About 9.30am yesterday, investigators from the Territory Investigations Group searched a Slessor Street residence. During the search officers located a number of plants suspected to be cannabis in a shed at the rear of the premises. Four vials containing what is believed to be steroids, an unsecured firearm and a quantity of semi-dried cannabis were located in the house.

The 34-year-old man from McKellar was charged with two counts of failing to store a firearm in an approved container and one count each of artificially cultivating cannabis plants, possession of a prohibited substance and possession of a steroid.

He was bailed and will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on 9th January 2009.

2. Hunting the Monash flasher:

ACT Policing has issued a facefit of the male offender who indecently exposed himself to two 12-year-old boys in Monash on Monday, December 8.

Around 5.30pm the two brothers noticed a dark grey station wagon drive past several times as they rode their bikes along William Hudson Crescent.

A short while later, as the boys were on Scratchley Place, the vehicle pulled alongside them and the driver called for them to come towards the vehicle. The boys noticed the male was indecently exposing himself. The boys immediately rode away on their bicycles and reported the incident.

The male offender is described as in his 30s, of Caucasian appearance, 175cm (5’9”) tall, with a thin build, short blond hair and a clean shaven oval-shaped tanned face. He was described as wearing thick prescription glasses and a light grey T-shirt.

3. Child porn in Waramanga:

ACT Policing has arrested and charged a 45-year-old Waramanga man with possessing child pornography following a search warrant conducted on his home early this morning (Thursday, December 18).

During the search, police examined a computer on which was found around 400 images of child pornography. The equipment was seized by police.

The man was arrested and conveyed to the Regional Watch House at City Station, where he was later granted conditional bail to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on January 6.

If you can help police contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.

Well if the gun was registered, who gives a fcuk about the ammo and weed?

Sounds like a waste of time.

Even for someone who’s not that fond of police, that’s a pretty silly comment, don’t you think?

Drug dealers are okay as long as they’re only dealing weed (not to mention illegal possession of steroids and illegally stored firearm)?

The gun was unsecured, same as the gun that killed a young boy in NSW recently. You failed to quote the steroid possession. “Waste of time”, I doubt it. Maybe just poor timing. I would give a f### about the dealer over the fence on riods who is armed. I guess he has come to the attention of Territory Investigations Group for a good reason.

Am I seeing a pattern?

Everyone who gets charged for dope (in these things) also gets done for a unregistered gun.

Do police only interested in dope growers who arm themselves?

Yes. And people who post stupid comments.

I bet the boys in blue were a tad disappointed when the answer to “well well well, do you have a license for this firearm?” was “why yes, officer, I certainly do”.

Actually, it doesn’t say anything about the gun being unregistered, but rather that it wasn’t properly secured, implying rather strongly that it was a registered gun, not locked up.

Monash flasher. Pedophile.

reminds me of the bloke picked up in kambah for standing in his front yard and tossing off as the school kids walked past. The cops picked him up, eventually. a few of his neighbors visited him first, though.

maybe the monash flasher will have the same luck.

flashing is one thing. the fact that he is following young boys…..predator types like this should be visited by the neighbors.
