1. Idiot in Chifley:

ACT Policing apprehended a 17-year-old juvenile male yesterday afternoon (May 1) following a short pursuit in Canberra’s south.

About 12.30pm a Criminal Investigations (CI) patrol conducting proactive duties attempted to perform a traffic stop on a black Holden Commodore on Eggleston Crescent, Chifley when the vehicle allegedly failed to stop.

With police warning lights and sirens activated the vehicle accelerated rapidly away from police and a pursuit ensued.

Police pursued the vehicle for a short period but lost sight of the vehicle on Hodgson Crescent, Pearce. As a result the pursuit was terminated.

The pursuit lasted for approximately three minutes.

A short time later police located the offending vehicle secured in a car park on Marr Street.

Within minutes the alleged juvenile offender was located a short distance away and was subsequently arrested by police.

The alleged offender will face the ACT Children’s Court at a later date charged with traffic offences including furious driving and drive vehicle while disqualified. Further charges may be laid.
