Raiders lose Tom Learoyd-Lahrs for the season

The ABC informs us that the judiciary has rubbed out the Canberra Raiders forward Tom Learoyd-Lahrs for seven matches.

How badly will he be missed?

The Raiders should drop this. Endangering a guy’s health is not something over which you should argue about degree of punishment. Raiders management shouldn’t use this to vent about Tonguey’s rib-smashing by Talaupapa in the Sharks game – yes, that was a joke but it should be argued completely separately to TLL’s tackle.

The simple fact is Tom made a dangerous tackle that could have turned his opponent from a fit healthy young man into a quadriplegic. It doesn’t matter if the punishment was more than the last guy received. Whatever was dished out is what TLL should take.

Put your efforts elsewhere, Raiders management.

The Raiders are playing better since they got rid of Carney.

Not that badly really. He was the next big thing when he arrived from the Broncos a few years ago. He has played about as many games as Weyman and been just as inconsistent. They did all right without him before.
