Perhaps racing to Parliament House dressed as Storm Troopers would have more effect, but as it is a Saturday and Parliament isn’t sitting, I am not expecting our elected representatives will take too much notice.
ON 4 MAY, STAND UP FOR: OUR JOBS, OUR CITY, OUR FUTURE
ACT Unions: Celebrating May Day and 100 years of standing up for workers.
Wear Red and bring your family
11:30 am Assemble front of Old Parliament House. Short march to Federation Mall Parliament House for speakers, free BBQ and entertainment.
Three quick reasons to come to the May Day Rally 2013
* 40% of Australian workers have insecure work. Australian unions are campaigning for real jobs http://www.securejobs.org.au/
* Tony Abbott has said he will cut 12,000 jobs from the public sector – and that just for starters. That would have a massive impact on the public services millions of Australians rely on. It means 12,000 households without an income . 12,000 jobs cut means less money to spend on small businesses , and less money to keep our economy strong. www.cutshurt.org.au
* Join us in celebrating the contributions made by unionists in the ACT as part of May Day activities and Canberra centenary celebrations
