Second deadly house fire in the ACT

Less than two weeks into winter, the ACT has recorded its second deadly house fire.

A person died after a structure fire at a McKellar residence on Saturday, 11 June 2022.

Firefighters and police attended the fire at Tipping Place, and it was put out by the early afternoon.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

This follows a fire in Calwell last week, which also claimed the life of an individual. The fire in a house on Duggan St happened on Tuesday night, 7 June 2022.

Police have not revealed the age, gender or identity of either of the fatalities.
