Second person charged over kangaroo deaths at Tura Beach

NSW Police have charged a second man over kangaroo deaths at Tura Beach on the NSW South Coast.

A 33-year-old Tura Beach man attended Queanbeyan Police Station today (10 October), where he was arrested and charged with torture, beat and cause the death of an animal.

Following extensive inquiries, a 19-year-old Numbugga man was charged on 1 October and remains before the courts.

An estimated 20 kangaroos were hit, including 11 killed between 10:30 pm and 11:30 pm on Saturday, 28 September.

About 10:15 am on the following day, police were called to Dress Circle and Headland Drive, Tura Beach, 35 km north of Eden after reports of multiple dead kangaroos on the road.

Detectives attached to South Coast Police District commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The 33-year-old man was granted conditional bail to appear at Bega Local Court on Tuesday, 26 November.
