UPDATED 9:50 am: The gas leak in Phillip has been resolved and roads have been reopened.

A gas leak on the southside campus of the former Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) site in Phillip has led to significant road closures in the area.

ACT Policing has advised the public to avoid the area with Hindmarsh Drive, Yamba Drive, Kitchener St and Ainsworth St surrounding the CIT closed until further notice.

ACT Fire and Rescue crews are on the scene.

The former CIT site is vacant at the moment with plans to turn it into a parking lot for Canberra Hospital.
