The brand new smash hit Battle of the Sexes, kids’ favourite Captain Underpants and epic drama The Mountain Between Us are among a range of movies Canberrans can watch outdoors at the IMB Bank Sunset Cinema which kicks off on the lawns of the Australian National Botanic Gardens late next week.

The local outdoor summer movie event starts with an opening night screening of acclaimed American drama, Patti Cake$ next Thursday night (November 16) and runs through until Saturday, December 23.

Canberrans are being encouraged to grab their crews, pack their picnics and be entertained by a line-up of blockbuster new releases, chick flicks, wholesome family movies and much more.

Tickets are $19 for adults and $12 for children for a night out amid the serene settings of the Northern Eucalypt Lawn’s natural bush amphitheatre. Alternatively, you could make a group booking or choose the premium experience at the Citroen Lawn Lounge which comes complete with popcorn and a glass of wine or bottle of beer.

For those who aren’t keen on preparing a picnic, there will be plenty of food options available.

For the first time, Australia’s largest delivery service, Menulog will be delivering to eventgoers a range of dishes from local Menulog restaurant partners ahead of each screening.

The foodie offerings won’t stop there with one of Canberra’s most popular food trucks, The Soul Cartel, on-site every screening night during the season.

This year IMB Bank Sunset Cinema has selected three local charities and will be asking moviegoers to choose between them and help to raise money for a great cause with a grant being allocated to each charity at the end of the season. The three charities are:

  • Communities@Work which provides funding for food, accommodation, clothing, education and essential services for seniors, people with a disability and Canberra’s most disadvantaged.
  • raize the roof which assists local children who are suffering from illness, as well as children who have been orphaned and are in need in other parts of the world
  • Hartley Lifecare which provides supported accommodation in the ACT for people with disability, their families and carers.

The 2017/2018 Sunset Cinema season is sponsored by IMB Bank, Mad Fish Western Australia, 4 Pines Brewing Company, Cobs Popcorn, McCormick Grill Mates, Citroen, Presha Fruit and Popcar Ride Sharing.

The full program is available here and tickets are available to purchase here. For further information visit IMB Bank Sunset Cinema.
