Simon Corbell has put out word that the first sod has been duly turned for Canberra’s first industrial solar farm at Royalla:

Construction of what will be Australia’s largest photovoltaic solar farm officially commenced today, when Minister for the Environment and Sustainable Development, Simon Corbell, turned the first sod at the site of the Royalla Solar Farm.

“At full capacity, the Royalla Solar Farm will provide 20 megawatts of renewable energy, enough to meet the demands of 5000 households,” Mr Corbell said.

“The project will eliminate 700,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions during its first 20 years of operation, a huge accomplishment for a stand-alone site.”
