Teenage girl dies in hospital following weekend car crash in Wanniassa

A 16-year old girl died in hospital today following a single-car crash in Wanniassa at around 1:50 am on Saturday (31 October).

She is the ACT’s sixth road fatality this year, up from four fatalities last year.

The driver, an 18-year old P-plate driver, and other two passengers in the vehicle were also transported to hospital on Saturday with non-life-threatening injuries.

ACT Policing is investigating whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash that occurred during heavy rain.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
