A teenager will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (15 May) with charges of multiple driving offences after he led police on a chase early this morning.

ACT Policing said that the 19-year-old Richardson man failed to stop after officers from Tuggeranong station activated their emergency lights at about 12:30 am.

Police deployed a tyre deflation device in an attempt to stop the vehicle after it headed into the southern end of Chauncy Crescent.

The vehicle mounted the kerb to avoid the tyre deflation device and the police vehicle.

Shortly afterward, the vehicle came to a stop in Rohan Street, Richardson, where the driver attempted to flee on foot while his passenger was detained.

When the driver returned to his vehicle, he was arrested.

Further checks on the vehicle revealed it was unregistered, with the number plates of a different vehicle attached.

The man was subsequently charged with failing to stop for police, reckless driving, driving having never held a licence, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle and using a vehicle without the required number plates attached.
