You may recall that about a month ago I posted an invitation to a trivia night in support of Gawad Kalinga.
I would just like to pass on a message of thanks to all who attended and also those who pledged money without attending. The night was a big success, and it is believed that enough money was raised to build and maintain at least five houses in the Phillipines.
Also a very big thank you must go to the Southern Cross Club for donating the venue, the Apex Club in Weston for helping out, RiotACT for helping publicise the event, everyone who donated prizes, and anyone else I’ve forgotten (and I’m terribly sorry to everyone who I’ve forgotten).
For the record, the “Manilla Folders” (Gary Humphries’ table) won the night, whilst the Phillipines Embassy team came last, but probably beat everyone when it came to questions about the Phillipines.
There are suggestions that a similar trivia night may be run next year, and if it is, I would strongly encourage you to come along. I, along with everyone else, had a lot of fun…and I was merely helping out!
