The Director of Libraries ACT, Vanessa Little, is making a serious effort to rid the language of the word “cool” by co-opting it for her awards:
“I am excited to announce this year?s four COOL-est books as decided by the young people of the ACT. “COOL? stands for Canberra’s Own Outstanding List,” said Vanessa Little, Director, Libraries ACT.
The winning titles are as follows:
— Picture Books – Mr Chicken Goes to Paris by Leigh Hobbs
— Fiction for Younger Readers – The Very Bad Book by Andy Griffiths
— Fiction for Older Readers – Ranger’s Apprentice (series) by John Flanagan
— Fiction for Grades 7 to 9 – Now by Morris Gleitzman
