Canberra's 2011 Children's Choice Books

The Director of Libraries ACT, Vanessa Little, is making a serious effort to rid the language of the word “cool” by co-opting it for her awards:

“I am excited to announce this year?s four COOL-est books as decided by the young people of the ACT. “COOL? stands for Canberra’s Own Outstanding List,” said Vanessa Little, Director, Libraries ACT.

The winning titles are as follows:

Picture BooksMr Chicken Goes to Paris by Leigh Hobbs

Fiction for Younger ReadersThe Very Bad Book by Andy Griffiths

Fiction for Older Readers – Ranger’s Apprentice (series) by John Flanagan

Fiction for Grades 7 to 9Now by Morris Gleitzman
