The Canberra Times has the happy news that after long last Summernats is going to host hoary old pub rockers The Angels in a celebration of all that is Oz:

Neeson piled praise on the culture of Summernats, comparing a tricked-out street machine to a beautiful guitar.

”Those cars are works of art,” he said. ”Have you seen how dedicated the owners are? Eighteen coats of paint just to get the right colour, the right look. It’s beautiful.”

But it was not all praise. Neeson described the removal of Summernats’ notorious wet T-shirt competition as ”political correctness gone mad”.

He certainly knows how to play to his audience.

Girl at Summernats after a quick romp in a tent “Am I ever gonna see your face again?”
Guy “No way, get f….”

Ah, the Angels. First ever live gig for me! Some time in 1991, I think, at the Raiders Club in Queanbeyan. What a night!
