A huuuuge art exhibition is taking place tomorrow night above King O’Malleys in the city. It features 21 of Canberras’ best emerging artists’ (most of whom are recent graduates from the ANU School of Art) plus a decent serving of our best contemporary local music. Quite simply, it’s the best of Canberra’s underground artistic talent all in one place.

The most exciting aspect of the event is the location, which many of you may know. It’s located two stories above King O’Malleys in a huge space (the size of a football field) which was previously a church. The place is loaded with amazing hidey-holes, a truley wonderful space for this kind of event.

If you attended the ANU School of Art grad show just recently, you may recognise several of the artists’ work. I guess you could say this is the less ‘formal’ approach to a portoin of that collective. And less formal usually means more fun people…

Artists:
Luke Penders, Stella-Rae Zelnik, Travis H Heinrich, Lisa Twomey, Charlie White, Bayard Condon, Elizabeth Goldrick, Cameron Chamberlain, Ty Mason, Jack Brandtman, Tom Farrell Jessie Adams, Myles McRae, Dean Butters, Steven Pennington, Rory Raudvee, Helani Laisk, Stephen Harrison, Ashley Bauman, Adam Kinninmont and Merryn Sommerville

LIVE Performances by:
FIGHTING LEAGUE, ASSASSINS 88, HORSE MACGYVER, CRASH THE CURB, SAVAGES, REUBEN INGALL, DARK HORSE

Open at 6pm, Open until Sunday. Go up the escalators to the left of the main entrance and the signs will guide you the rest of the way.

There’s a Facebook page.

UPDATE: After trouble rarely seen in Canberra it’s been cancelled.
