Few do that indie synth-pop sound better than Powder Blue, who have emerged over the last year or so in the Canberra scene as a stunning collective, writing some of the best locally made songs. Every track off their debut release – found here – is a shimmering gem. Check them out as they play TWICE this week; first at The Phoenix on Wednesday with Shoeb Ahmad, Reuben Ingall and Requin, and then on Saturday at the Polish White Eagle Club with The Francos, Lady Denman and Peach Lane.
On Thursday, one of Australia’s biggest bands, Parkway Drive, will be gracing the UC Refectory along with their contemporaries Thy Art Is Murder and Killswitch Engage in what will be an enormous night of metalcore, starting from 6 pm. Meanwhile, Goofy18 will be coming all the way from Japan to perform at Transit Bar, along with Dog Name and My Pet Ant, starting from 8 pm.
Lacklustre HQ will be wrapping up five years of operation in their little corner of the inner north, going out with a bang with help from Oxen, Requin, Lapse, New Age Group, Earache and [the] Cure on Friday night from 8 pm. Meanwhile, The Vee Bees will be in town to launch their new album “Yeah Nah, Yeah Nah” at The Phoenix, playing with The Australian Beefweek Show and Pilots of Baalbek from 8 pm.
