Lifeline’s biggest bookfair yet

When: Friday 15 July to Sunday 16 July, 9 am – 6 pm
Where: Tuggeranong Southern Cross Basketball Stadium, Greenway
How much: Gold coin donation.

Their EPIC Bookfair event might have had to close earlier than planned – but Lifeline is back with Canberra’s biggest bookfair yet. A fundraiser to keep the crisis support service running locally, it will feature more than just everything with a spine and hard cover – including DVDs, CDs, records, games and what will quite possibly be your coffee table’s next jigsaw puzzle.

Winter in the City

If you haven’t been to Canberra’s winter festival in Civic Square yet, this is your last weekend! Winter in the City, with its ice-skating, marshmallow toasting, and special festival offers from nearby businesses ends for the season on Monday.

Country music by Australian Idol, The Voice, X-Factor stars Hayley Jensen and Jason Owen

The X-Factor’s coming to a pub in Queanbeyan this Friday night, with country singers Hayley Jensen and Jason Owen performing country favourites – as well as a mix of their own songs.

Harvest Stall: Homemade produce for sale at the National Arboretum

Discover your new favourite chutney at a market of organic produce that’s straight from the Arboretum’s own garden. Aside from taking home more goods that you can actually fit in your pantry, you’ll be able to learn more about what you can grow in your own Canberra backyard.

Get up close with llamas – including by walking one

Everyone’s looked out the window on a car trip through the country and wanted to pet that llama, right? An experience in Sutton – just an hour out of Canberra – will allow you to get up close to a llama and take it for a one-hour walk. Al-pack-a lunch for the day trip or grab something from Sutton’s seriously good bakery.

Kids nagging you to take them to the snow? Westfield Woden’s winter play area is a good compromise that’ll allow you to sit back with a hot choc and churros while the kids play in fake snow.

Everyone knows Canberra’s Old Bus Depot is alive with stalls every Sunday – but did you know each week has a theme? This week’s theme is designer fashion and will see the depot filled with jewellery, clothes, accessories, homewares, and artwork from Australian designers and artisans. Check out the other regular Sunday markets in Canberra, including Haig Park Village Markets, Trash and Treasure Market, and Tuggeranong Bric’a’Brac and Rummage.
