Every year, Canberra reveals its incredible business meeting and event possibilities to a hand-picked group of national event organisers as part of its Top Secret event.

Organised by the Canberra Convention Bureau (CCB), the Top Secret event is a ‘best of the best’ highlights package of Canberra staged over three days, showcasing the range and quality of venue possibilities for national and international business events.

CCB fly in delegates for the Top Secret program and introduce them to national institutions, icons, leading education institutions, accommodation providers and inspiring venues throughout the city. Each stop showcases a different aspect of Canberra’s charm and character. Since inception, the program has generated an economic impact in excess of $115 million to the nation’s capital.

This year, the Top Secret event was held from the 21st – 23rd of March. The jam-packed program included a gala launch at Kings Hall, Museum of Australian Democracy, breakfast in the vineyards at Pialligo Estate and the final stop of the tour, a garden lunch at Hyatt Hotel Canberra.

Fredrick Arul, General Manager of Hyatt Hotel Canberra was on hand to welcome guests, saying, “I am both proud and honoured to be a board member of CCB. Hyatt Hotel Canberra has always been working closely with CCB’s Top Secret familiarisation program for conference organisers from interstate. We hosted around eight to 10 familiarisation tours each year to promote Canberra as a national conference destination. As a board member of CCB, we all shared one common interest, that is to support hosting the most successful event possible in this great city. Our target is to work together as a city to create the right setting for producing an event beyond what people would ever expect.”

Delegates were not only treated to the Hyatt’s hospitality for lunch but also got to see the range of event spaces on offer and the spectacular accommodation including a tour of the Presidential and Diplomatic suites.

“Hyatt Hotel Canberra is a luxury five-star hotel with lots of personal touches. We have the edge on personalised service and class that every little detail has been thought of. The hotel is situated in a prime location within the parliamentary triangle and proximity to local attractions and CBD. It is convenient for corporate clients exploring Canberra. Our unique function venues, basking in natural light, cater for intimate and private gatherings, weddings or corporate events for up to 600 people.” said Jo Thompson, Associate Director of Sales & Government.

Lunch was not only mouthwatering and delicious but showcased the emphasis on local sourcing and the Hyatt Hotel Canberra food philosophy, where everything served was local, down to the wine and beer.

“Our idea is to showcase our hotel garden. The theme was the Big “O” organic luncheon featuring fresh BBQ items of local meats and corn cob in husk served on share platters in the centre of the table. Our guests then can wander the organic garden buffet in the centre of the table and ‘pick’ fresh ingredients to add to salads,” Nitin Kumar, Director of Food and Beverage & Culinary Operation, said.

All the colours of Canberra throughout the seasons.

The finale to the Top Secret program was a jaw-dropping dessert table with all the colours of Canberra throughout the seasons.

“Our dessert is inspired by Canberra Seasons and Events like Balloon festival, Enlighten and the Truffle festival. Guests will experience the seasons and wonderful events of Canberra represented on a dessert chefs table. Speciality items include: Winter – Apple Pie and Custard; Spring – Chocolate fairy floss tree; Summer – Strawberry delight; Autumn – Helium Sugar Balloon with chocolate truffle basket.”
