ABC On-line is reporting a bizarre incident here where a group of full fee paying students were offered the chance to re-sit and examination thay had failed, and subsequently failed the subject, after being allowed to do so by an internal review committee, deapite the protests of the lecturer who delivered the subject and the examiniation.
This decision was later overturned (see link above), and surprisingly they have to re-do the subject the next time it is available. There has been all sorts of hoo-haa over this issue I am told, particulary considering that they were full-fee paying and of international origin arising calls of special treatment.
Now, at uni it took me six attempts to pass first year accounting (the sixth time i got a terminating pass) and I had to do the subject over and over until I got an acceptable mark. That aside, I hope these folks can pass their Law subject a wee bit quicker than what it took me to do accunting, and I also applaude the lecturer in question for sticking by their guns and refusing to roll over to the powers that be at UC.
Mind you, I never that flash at maths to begin with, so buggered if I know why I gave accounting a shot anyway… I still can’t add up a golf score card!
