ACT Policing is seeking the assistance of the public to identify the driver of a vehicle involved in a lengthy pursuit with police last night (Wednesday, December 5).
Around 11.15pm, police attempted a traffic stop on an orange Ford Falcon XF utility with no registration plates on Hindmarsh Drive in Torrens. The driver failed to stop for police, and a pursuit commenced.
Police pursued the vehicle through several suburbs in Weston Creek, Civic and Belconnen. Several attempts by police to use stop sticks on the vehicle were unsuccessful.
The pursuit was terminated by police on Gungahlin Drive when the driver of the utility crossed the median strip and accelerated away from police on the wrong side of the road.
The pursuit lasted approximately 14 minutes and reached a maximum speed of 140km/h.
Anyone who can assist police in identifying the driver or the orange Ford Falcon XF utility involved in the pursuit is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
