Winter Warmer Workshops – community activities and school holiday program.

Need a place to warm up and flex your creative muscles this winter? Woden Experiment is hosting a series of Winter Warmer workshops and community and school holiday activities.

The program runs from Saturday 22 June to Saturday 27 July and includes workshops for all ages available during the week and on the weekend offering a variety of opportunities to come along and get involved.

Six Saturday Workshops

The six Saturday workshops include jewellery making, mindful mandalas, kokedama and nest nuture.

The Winter Warmers program includes six Saturday workshops that will bring people together and strengthen communities through activities with an emphasis on sustainable and mindful living as an antidote to our busy lives.

Workshops on offer include jewellery making, weaving, macramé, green clean, mandala, nest nurture and kokedama.

Workshops are facilitated by Green Clean champion Nicola Lambert, art therapist Jemima Beaumont, Kate Clement a Biodanza teacher, Ruby a local jewellery maker, Angela Pisciotta an indigenous artist and Wiradjuri woman, and Annette a local artist, maker, and teacher.

Workshops have been created by Create and Sow, with sponsorship through Transport Canberra and City Service and supported by Woden Community Service, allowing this season’s workshops to be offered at very affordable prices to create inclusive events available to all, prices range from free to $27.69. Wednesdays with Studio Connect

Studio Connect is a group of Canberra artists living with a disability or mental health issues; creating individual and collaborative artwork by responding to Canberra and their personal stories.

Studio Connect is running drop-in sessions on Wednesdays 10 am – 2 pm, from 26 June through to 24 July.

Studio Connect is a group of Canberra artists living with a disability or mental health issues who are creating individual and collaborative artwork by responding to Canberra and their personal stories.

Studio Connect will engage the community in the newly developed Woden Experiment, including The Rainbow Panda street art recently painted by Bjarni Wark and the Woden Community.

Studio Connect will respond with print, wire art and textiles over the five-week period. Great opportunity to be creative, drink tea and have a chat! Open to all, drop in anytime between the hours of 10 am – 2 pm.

School Holiday Happenings

School holiday activities and workshops for children will include creating ‘Story Stones’ responding to Classic Children’s Stories, Magic Beach by Alison Lester, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen and A Walk in the Bush by Gwyn Perkins.

Woden Experiment is hosting a range of activities for children these school holidays.

Responding to the newly created environment at Woden Town Centre, school-aged children will be invited to participate in an adventure.

Each week will have different themes with props to engage children in creating a new story at the Woden Town Centre.

Activities and workshops will include creating ‘Story Stones’ responding to Classic Children’s Stories, Magic Beach by Alison Lester, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen and A Walk in the Bush by Gwyn Perkins.

Join us in making a set of story stones, and reimagine Woden Town Square through storytelling, active play and art creation. Choose an adventure or join us for them all!

Woden Experiment

The Woden Experiment is a landscape, furniture and built elements installation in the Woden Town Square.

Key design features include stages for community performances, smart benches with phone and laptop charging, flexible table settings next to areas set aside for pop-up food and drink vendors, turf areas with hammocks, an outdoor table tennis facility, and two bookable pods for workshops, meetings and activities.
