One of ACT Policing’s important community partners recognised Tuggeranong Station’s Officer-in-Charge Sergeant Daryl Neit at its annual awards function last night.
Sergeant Neit was presented with the ACT Neighbourhood Watch Chief Police Officer’s Award, recognising his outstanding service to this community group.
NHW ACT described Sergeant Neit as “a consistent supporter . . . [of the group] who speaks with ease on crime prevention issues and fosters a two-way dialogue” which has “reinforced the strong relationship which exists between ACT Policing and ACT Neighbourhood Watch”.
Sergeant Neit said that he was honoured to receive the CPO’s award, and would continue to work closely with the community.
At the same function, NHW ACT also recognised Geoff Puleston as its 2013 Member of The Year.
The area of Gleneagles Estate, in Kambah, did not have an active NHW presence until Mr Puleston decided to develop one and, as a result of his efforts, membership within that community is now the second-highest in the ACT.
Mr Puleston is a former member of the association’s Board of Management and Membership Secretary, and remains an active ACT NHW volunteer who has forged important partnerships between ACT NHW and local groups such as the Murrumbidgee Golf Club and the Lions Youth Haven.
